BUDAPEST, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Dancers, singers and musicians from the western China province of Gansu presented a wonderful show entitled "Magical Silk Road" on Saturday night at the Ram Colosseum cultural center in the Hungarian capital.

"The two countries have had excellent relations for a very long time. Both peoples have a natural friendly stance towards each other," said Lu Guangjin, a senior official with the State Council Information Office, at the beginning of the show.

"Many Chinese knows the famous poem Freedom and Love of the Hungarian poet Sandor Petofi," he added.

Lu Guangjin hoped to use this cultural exchange event as an opportunity to open a window to the Hungarian society to get closer to China and experience the culture of West China.

"To immerse oneself in another country's culture is always like a journey," said Hungarian Deputy State Secretary Aniko Herter Krucsaine, who was responsible for cultural relations at the Ministry of Human Capacities.

The show contained more than a dozen programs. The vivid sword dance of Bao'an was one that earned the most applause from the audience.

The Erhu duo not only presented a traditional oeuvre illustrating the gallop of wild horses, but also played a familiar tune of world-famous composer Brahms, very popular in Hungary.

In yet another performance, the Erhu duo also played a theme composed on the beauties of the Jasmine flower.
