RIO DE JANEIRO, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo midfielder Erick Pulgar will require surgery to repair a fracture in his right foot, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old will undergo the procedure in Chile on Thursday, where he will remain initially to begin his recovery process, Flamengo said in a statement.
Pulgar was forced off before halftime in Flamengo's 4-2 loss to Bayern Munich in Miami at the FIFA Club World Cup on Sunday.
Scans later revealed a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot, Flamengo said.
The Chile international is expected to be sidelined for three to six months, according to medical experts.
Pulgar has made 125 appearances for Flamengo since his 2022 move from Galatasaray. ■
