RIO DE JANEIRO, July 31 (Xinhua) -- With organized crime getting more globalized, a single country can't fight the phenomenon and international cooperation is necessary, Brazil's Public Security Minister Raul Jungmann said on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, the minister signed an agreement with the Argentinian Government in Buenos Aires to cooperate in the fight against organized crime. The agreement involves broadening and deepening information exchange between the two countries, with the creation of a common database accessible in real time.

"Organized crime can no longer be fought in the national space; there is no chance. We must have integrated, shared intelligence actions," he said.

He and Argentina's Security Minister Patricia Bullrich agreed to have video conferences every two weeks to monitor the implementation of the agreement.

Jungmann also proposed a regional forum of all South American countries on public security. He highlighted the need for agility and organization to integrate security in South America, saying the authorities are hindered by bureaucracy while criminals manage to be agile.

"While criminals organize things in real time through WhatsApp, we are stuck in bureaucracy, rules and diplomacy," he said.
