ARUSHA, Tanzania, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania on Thursday announced to abolish at least five fees in efforts to improve businesses environment and reduce costs for investors in the east African nation.

Jennista Mhagama, minister of state in the Prime Minister's Office, Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Employment, Youth and the Disabled, said in the country's capital Dodoma that the government sees it right to reduce the nuisance levies that had caused an outcry from the investors and employers.

She said that the abolished fees are those charged by the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA).

The scrapped levies include fees for application form for registration of working places and levy on registration of working places, ranging from 22 U.S. dollars to 788 dollars.

Others include fees related to fire and rescue equipment, compliance license fees as well as consultancy fees.

Mhagama said Tanzanian President John Magufuli held a meeting with members of the private sector in March 2018 and discussed how to create a better environment for doing business in the country. Enditem
