BEIRUT, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Tripoli and China will work on strengthening economic ties, said Wael Yassin, vice president of the International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Friday.

"We will explore ways of coordinating with China in a bid to improve investment in Tripoli," Yassin said during his meeting with Ibrahim Foz, vice president of Tripoli's Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, according to the National News Agency.

Yassin said that Lebanon, Tripoli in particular, has a big opportunity to benefit from building partnerships and exchanging expertise with China.

"It can also benefit from China's position in the international economic arena and its plan to enhance its Belt and Road Initiative," he said.

Meanwhile, Foz said Tripoli's Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture aims at turning Tripoli into an economic hub based on its strategic geographic location.

"Also, the chamber is in continuous cooperation with the Chinese embassy in Lebanon for the launching of common investment projects," he said.

It is worth noting that Tripoli's port will witness next week the opening of Beks, the maritime line between Lebanon and China.

Tripoli has already received so far five vessels from China which arrived to unload products in its port.
