CHARIKAR, Afghanistan, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Four militants including a Taliban commander Mullah Qadir were killed in a clash in eastern Afghanistan's Parwan province on Friday, provincial police chief Mohammad Mahfoz Walizada said.

"I confirm that the Taliban notorious commander Mullah Qadir along with three of his armed men were killed and another injured in a clash with a rival group early Friday in Qadir Khil village of Jabal Seraj district in the wee hours of Friday," Walizada told Xinhua.

The clash, according to the official, was erupted after Mullah Qadir forcibly took a car from a person and was driving to an unknown location, when a rival Taliban commander intercepted the car and opened fire killing four insurgents including Mullah Qadir on the spot and injuring another.

Mullah Qadir was the chief of military commission of the Taliban group in Parwan province with Charikar as its capital.

The Taliban leader's physical elimiantion could prove a major blow to the armed group, the official said.

Taliban is yet to make comment.
